How to Replace Dishwasher Door Seal.

How to Replace Dishwasher Door Seal.

Every dishwasher has a door seal. This is the part of the dishwasher that prevents dirt and water from entering the dishwasher while it’s running. In most cases, these seals are made of plastic that breaks down over time. The easiest way to replace this plastic door seal is by replacing just it with a new one. Replacing your old dishwasher door seal does not require any tools or expertise, but you will need some basic household supplies to get the job done. Here’s how to replace your door seal in five simple steps.

What you will need

-A dishwasher

-A new door seal

-A razor blade

-Some sandpaper

-A screwdriver

Disconnect the dishwasher from power

The first step is to disconnect the dishwasher from power. This is important because it allows you to work on the dishwasher without any risk of electrocution or damage.

Use a cordless drill with a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws securing the door seal in place. This will expose the door seal, which should be secured by four screws. Use your screwdriver to remove these screws and set them aside for later use.

Next, pull up on the two plastic latches on either side of the door seal (one on each latch). When they are pulled up, they should release and come loose from their location on top of the frame surrounding the dishwasher door frame.

With both latches removed, you can pull out the old door seal from its location in between them. If it sticks, don’t worry: Just push down with your hands to free it from its position before pulling it out fully. Once you have successfully removed your old door seal and set it aside for safekeeping, take a look at your new one that you’ve just purchased or borrowed and make sure that it’s in good condition before putting it into place. Positioning your new dishwasher door seal is easy!

Remove the old seal

Step 1: Open the dishwasher door and locate your old seal.

Step 2: Remove the old seal with a screwdriver or pliers.

Step 3: Put new seal on door, following the instructions provided by your manufacturer to ensure a tight seal.

Step 4: Put dishwasher back together and close door.

Step 5: Run dishwasher to check if any leaks have occurred. If not, it is time to move onto a less complicated task!

Insert the new seal

At the top of your dishwasher door, you should see two small screws that are holding in the door seal. Remove these screws to remove the old seal. If you’re replacing a plastic door seal, make sure that you screw in a new one with a matching color and size.

Reconnect your dishwasher to power.

First, disconnect your dishwasher from the power outlet and remove the hose. Then, take off the old door seal by unlatching it from the frame on the left and right sides of it. Next, pull out the old seal and replace it with a new one that is sold in most hardware stores. Finally, reconnect your dishwasher to power by connecting its hose back to its outlet and reattaching it to its frame.
