One wine you should look out for, especially if you have not tried the style before is the Peter Lehmann ‘Black Queen’ Sparkling Shiraz 1998. Winorama writes that this is a ‘marvellous example of this unique Barossa style’. Not sure what distribution is outside of Australia mind…

Dave Brooks of Vinosense goes to Burgundy for Bouchard Chassagne-Montrachet En Remilly 1er 2002. Conclusion? ‘Excellent’. Decent white Burgundy can be pricey but selecting wisely you get what you pay for. In this case a 92 point wine.

The Caveman is holding on to the last vestiges of summer with a look back at his favourite ross of the year. The Agioritikos Ros 2003, Tsantalis from Greece was the firm winner. I think this was the mystery bottle in the cellar at Ristorante Da Gigetto in Miane, Treviso, Italy when I was there earlier in the year. Customers give interesting bottles to the staff, adding to the already eclectic collection. They had this one bottle they had no idea about…

Shingleback (http://www.shingleback.com/)also makes a Sparkling Shiraz called Black Bubbles. I know that it’s available in the Seattle area and I believe across the US, although you may have to do a bit of searching.

That is interesting - I thought Sparkling Shiraz was exclusive to Australia. Would love to try the Black Bubbles but doubt it will ever make it across to my side of the pond!
